Who We Are

Burnum Spirit Corporation Pty Ltd is a proudly Indigenous-owned business that serves as a key player in the construction supply, advice, policy advice and procurement industry.

Founded by Peter Rowe, a Trawlwoolway Aboriginal man from Tasmania, we provide tailored construction industry advice, policy guidance, procurement, and social procurement policy compliance for large-scale construction projects across Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia.

Peter Rowe, the CEO and majority owner of Burnum Spirit Corporation, brings extensive experience in both Aboriginal advocacy and the construction industry. A registered solicitor with a law degree, Peter has a wealth of knowledge in legal and corporate governance, making him a trusted leader in the business. His passion for ensuring Indigenous involvement in the Australian workforce is matched only by his dedication to fostering sustainable and culturally respectful business practices.

As a proud Aboriginal artist, Peter's work draws inspiration from the land and culture, and this creative spirit informs every aspect of the company’s operations. Our corporate identity blends the rich cultural history of the Trawlwoolway people with contemporary business practices, reflecting our commitment to both heritage and innovation.

In the near future, we will also be expanding our role to focus on supporting Indigenous employment within the construction industry. We believe that providing opportunities for Indigenous Australians is key to breaking barriers and creating long-lasting change within the community.

Meet our Leadership Team

At Burnum Spirit Corporation, we are guided by a strong and experienced leadership team that brings together expertise in law, Aboriginal culture, and the construction industry.

PETER ROWE 
CEO & DIRECTOR

Peter Rowe is a Trawlwoolway Aboriginal man from Tasmania and the CEO of Burnum Spirit Corporation. With a law degree and as a registered solicitor, Peter brings a wealth of knowledge in corporate governance and legal affairs. His experience as an Aboriginal artist further enhances the cultural integrity embedded in the company’s operations.

Peter is also a member of the Thylacine Rebirth Community Advisory Committee, the Indigenous Advisor to the Mayor of New Norfolk in Tasmania and a former committee member of the Defence Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Network, an official Defence group.

Peter’s leadership ensures that Burnum Spirit remains committed to empowering Indigenous Australians and integrating cultural values in all our work. Peter is a director of First Peoples (Tasmania) Aboriginal Corporation and has been involved with several Aboriginal corporations and works in Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia , Queensland and Northern Territory.

Sapphire Erkekli
Coordinator

Sapphire is Burnum Spirit’s coordinator and a highly respected leader within both the Victorian and Tasmanian Aboriginal community. With years of experience within cultural settings, including experience as a director and grants coordinator on top of government level board advisory experience, Sapphire plays a crucial role in ensuring that Burnum Spirit’s services meet industry standards while respecting Indigenous cultural values.

Sapphire is also a member of the Thylacine Rebirth Community Advisory Committee, and a member of several advisory committees including the Royal Women’s Hospital.

Her expertise strengthens our capacity to deliver high-quality procurement services to the construction sector. Sapphire is a director of First Peoples (Tasmania) Aboriginal Corporation and has had extensive involvement in the Tasmanian Aboriginal sector all her life.
